Main article: Report 1/Transcript

Arata Kaizaki, 27 years old, is undergoing a job interview. Initially, he’s being praised by the interviewers for not giving up easily given that he worked an additional two years to enter college. However, after affirming his confidence in his perseverance, his interviewers noticed that he only stayed at his first job after college for merely three months – at which he instantly twitches, not being sure how to answer their query regarding the matter.

He instantly responded that he wanted to look for a place that could make better use of his abilities that’s why he decided to leave sooner rather than later. He proclaims that decisive action is one of his strengths, and without it, he won’t be applying for the job there. He added the notion that transferring quickly must have been a decision that he had confidence in making.

Unconvinced, the interviewers have no other option but to smile at him awkwardly.

Meanwhile, few days passed by. On March 1, Ryō Yoake is preparing to make contact with Arata, to whom he refers to as the “Subject No. 002”.

Later, while feeling depressed about the interview resulting in a rejection, Arata receives a phone call from his mother asking how it went. Upon hearing of the result, she tells Arata that they (his parents) are going to cut off financial support to him as he is a grown man. She also suggests that he come back home and help his father fishing, as there seems to be no reason for him to live where he does, to which he replies that he had decided not to return when he first left. He gets no sympathy for his decision, and the call ends in an unpleasant mood, leaving him dejected.
