Plot[]
The reason Chizuru wanted Arata to spend some more time with her after the festival was to spy on Rena and Kazuomi. As they hide behind a hedge with a clear view on the park bench that Rena and Kazuomi went to sit on, Arata admits to himself that he wanted to see Kazuomi's confession too but feels guilty for having possibly influenced Chizuru to do such a questionable thing. Chizuru explains that she wanted to watch the confession as she wants to understand love, but also feels torn about it as she has always wanted to avoid the topic entirely. Hearing her explanation makes Arata wonder if Chizuru holding Ryō's arm was because she is in love with him or because she wanted to learn about somethin.
Kazuomi and Rena are very tense and have a hard time trying to talk with each other in their normal casual manner, and Chizuru wonders how can it be so hard to say such simple words as "I love you". Arata tries to explain that it is more complicated than that, however at that moment Kazuomi breaks the awkward silence by telling Rena he loves her, leaving Arata just as amazed as Rena.
Rena's speechlessness makes Kazuomi believe he must have chosen a bad time to say it. However, after confirming Kazuomi is serious Rena tells him that when she heard he might be applying to an external university she started wanting to tell him about her own feelings so as to not regret it afterwards, but never expected him to feel the same way. Rena confesses that she has been in love with Kazuomi since their first year in high school and asks him to go out with her, taking Kazuomi completely by surprise.
