Plot[]
Chizuru's ReLIFE experiment was not only Ryō's first time in charge of a subject, it was also the first time a subject would have a support of the opposite sex, which was usually avoided due to the support staff's intrusions of the subject's privacy for the purposes of their observation. The reason it was done now was due to the higher-ups having particular plans to tailor Chizuru's experiment into a great success to make up for the slow start the Kanto region branch of ReLIFE Laboratory had gotten to compared to other branches.
As Chizuru was seen as a subject with high potential due to her extremely high level of work performance, she was arranged opportunities to improve her weak point, her social skills. She was placed as a second-year transfer student in a class with a bullied girl she could help and thus befriend her easily. Also, in order to mend Chizuru's damaged feelings, Ryō was tasked with forming a love relationship with her, despite his protest against the inappropriate request.
Upon starting the experiment, Chizuru did not show any interest in her classmates or signs of changing. Blamed by the higher-ups for giving bad support, Ryō prompted her to engage more with her surroundings for the sake of the success of her experiment. Influenced by this Chizuru confronted the bullies, however her clumsy attempt, not motivated by truly wanting to help but the success of her experiment, ended in disaster and the bullied girl asking her to leave her alone. As a result Chizuru totally isolated herself from others, and Ryō received the blame again for getting too involved with the subject.
