Characters[]
- Probably the Division Chief (Flashback)
- An Onoya
- Ryō Yoake
Plot[]
After learning of the higher-ups' decision to assign Ryō as Arata's support and have An take over as Chizuru's, Ryō and An were told by the Division Chief that Arata would be placed on the same class with Chizuru because the higher-ups believed interacting with him would help Chizuru improve her communication skills and self-confidence. However, in order to gather valid data from Arata's and Chizuru's experiments, Ryō and An were told to be sure to keep either of them from learning the truth about the other. Also, as the exceptional arrangement of having two subjects in the same class was due to Ryō's request to give Chizuru a second chance, the Division Chief told them they were expected to deliver perfect results.
An was disappointed by the decision as she had been looking forward to being Arata's support. While Ryō was thinking the higher-ups were putting pressure on them only for appearance's sake, An accepted it as something that could not be helped. She was annoyed by Ryō feeling bad for her because the support change was a result of his actions, but she left the office without saying anything more about it and Ryō remained troubled.
Reflecting on the higher-ups' decision on the support arrangements, An notes how Arata and Chizuru had really had a good influence on each other just like they had expected, and that she is now happy about how things went. However, as Ryō hands over his files on Chizuru, An begins to express doubts about whether everything she has done to influence Chizuru is really all right.
