Plot[]

Arata and Rena go outside to talk as Rena requested. She tells Arata she lied to Kazuomi about the volleyball club activities in order to have a chance to have a talk with him, and that she thinks Arata lied to Kazuomi about his executive committee duties as well. Rena wants to know why Arata has been avoiding everyone, but he denies, saying that he was no longer needed with the project. Rena wonders how can he think so, as without his involvement the project would likely have failed catastrophically, and not only that, but also Rena would probably never have gone out with Kazuomi or become friends with Chizuru. Arata yet again tries to deny distancing himself from everyone, only to be told by Rena not to run away.

Arata is reminded of telling the same thing to Rena in the spring about facing the source of her problems with Chizuru, and Rena thanking him for helping them become friends. He also remembers how everyone was thankful for his help in restoring Rena and Honoka's friendship before and during the volleyball tournament, like Kazuomi was for his influence in him and Rena going out together. With these memories, Ryō's earlier words finally make sense to Arata: even if everyone forgets him, his influence on their lives will remain, and while Chizuru has been tireless in her attempts to improve herself, it was because Arata was there with her that she was able to change.

Remembering how happy he was to be with everyone, Arata now sees that others' lives really are all the better for his involvement, not only during his ReLIFE but also at his old workplace, and that despite the eventual tragic turn of events Michiru appreciated his concern for her as well. Understanding that getting fully involved with life is not meaningless after all, Arata breaks into tears.
