I've Been Waiting (
Synopsis
Arata tells Rena that there likely has been a misunderstanding between her and Chizuru and suggests she ask her to show her smile to her sometime. At the gates to the school yard Arata meets Chizuru, who has been waiting in order to clarify things that she does not understand about what happened earlier.

Rena has stopped crying, and tries to act like her show of emotion never happened. However, Arata still reminds her that Chizuru is also working hard and always finding out from teachers what she does not understand, and not everything is easy to her either. He suggests Rena have a real discussion with Chizuru sometime and ask Chizuru to show her smiling face, though Rena does not understand the reason. Arata then leaves the infirmary, but in the hallway he feels embarrassed for lecturing Rena on the value of hard work after having given up on it before himself.
Chizuru is waiting at the gate outside the school, puzzled by the weird gloomy feeling she got as she found Arata with his arms wrapped around Rena to protect her as they fell down the stairs. As Arata arrives at the gate Chizuru tells him she is there because she does not understand why Rena had her bag. The only explanation she can think of is that Rena was trying to steal it but she finds it confusing as she has been under the impression that she and Rena are on their way to becoming friends. From her explanation Arata realizes that Chizuru has misunderstood the meaning of Rena glaring at her in response to her supposedly nice smiles. Chizuru then asks Arata if he heard anything about it from Rena.
