Synopsis

An and Ryō visit Arata to discuss the recent events. Arata realizes that knowing for certain he will be separated from his new friends has not stopped him from growing attached to them, and Chizuru is troubled by the idea that Ryō and An might be dating.

Characters[]

Plot[]

An is saved from Rena's questioning when Ryō reminds Rena and Honoka about the start of the next game in the tournament, and they return to the sports hall. As the others start heading home, An scolds Arata for giving the others the idea of her and Ryō going out together, and Chizuru takes note of the discussion.

In the evening Ryō and An are visiting Arata's apartment to celebrate the successful resolution of Rena and Honoka's problems. An asks Arata why he suggested that she and Ryō might be going out together earlier, and while Arata did it to get back to her and Ryō for playing around with him all the time, he wonders if what he suggested might not in fact be what is going on. As he presses the issue, An and Ryō despondently explain that because they have to take the appearance of high school students for their job, the support division members cannot have normal social lives and none of them are in a romantic relationship.

Ryō returns the question to Arata, suggesting it would be quite possible for him to have a high school girlfriend during his brief return to youth, though he would end up being forgotten at the end of the experiment. Arata finds the idea ridiculous, but is put in a thoughtful mood by the idea of having to be forgotten by everyone. He goes to the balcony to smoke and read a message Chizuru has sent him in the meantime to thank him for his part in the recent events. Recalling what Chizuru told about how she got socially isolated, Arata realizes that despite knowing that he would be separated from everyone at the end of the experiment, he has grown attached to his new friends.

While Arata is out in the balcony Ryō and An talk about Arata's suggestion about them dating putting them in a tough spot. Ryō tells An she needs to be more careful in the future and not to act on her own, and while An apologizes she adds that the subject will eventually find out what Ryō wants hide. Afterwards, Ryō reports on the solution of the recent problems that his subject was positively affected by a student from the same class they are close with, and that he believes the impact of the subject's actions on the other students who were involved was likewise positive.

Arata responds to Chizuru's message, thanking her in return, and she reads it with a smile. However, she then recalls Ryō dragging An away from her and Arata on their way to school after the Golden Week and Arata suggesting that Ryō and An might be dating, and is disturbed by the thought.

Trivia[]

  • What An says the subject will find out eventually even if Ryō wants to hide it, as well as the reason Chizuru found the possibility of Ryō and An dating so disturbing, are clarified in Report 117.
